OMTRA's 2024 Conference and Annual General Meeting

Join us for the 2024 Conference and AGM in the Orillia area at the beautiful Casino Rama Resort & Conference Centre from September 15 through September 18, 2024!

Your Conference Committee  has been busy putting together an information packed Agenda encompassing many aspects of our daily business needs.  Once again, we are planning sponsor visitations, a variety of concurrent and plenary sessions of interest to all and as in the past have our banquet and entertainment planned for the Tuesday evening.

Our keynote speakers are:

Linda Edgecombe - For the past 29 years, Linda’s footprint has been seen and experienced around the world. Her mission is to get people Fired up and Ready to Shift or Get off the Pot!

“A Day without laughing is a day wasted!”

Her non-BS approach is refreshing, engaging and relevant. She energizes every room as she leads people to loosen up, lighten the load and laugh. Linda has been featured in the Wall Street Journal as an expert in “Shifting Perspectives”. Her messages are as welcome as a deep belly laugh and as profound as an honest look in the mirror.

 

 

Jeremiah Brown - He won an Olympic silver medal as a member of the Canadian men’s eight rowing team at the London 2012 Olympic Games. A young father with a big dream, he is one of few Olympians ever to have started learning his sport only four years before winning a medal at the Olympics. His story has been featured on CBC, CTV, Roger’s Sportsnet, the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, and USA Today and Jeremiah has helped thousands of people find the courage to reach their goals and overcome the psychological traps and emotional pitfalls that lie hidden along the way.

 

Building on the success of last year's conference we are continuing with a number of plenary sessions for all:

• Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy from the Revenue perspective
• AI in the Municipal Environment and how it is changing the Municipal customer service landscape
• Customer Service in the Municipal Sector - Dealing with Difficult Customers

A few of the concurrent sessions include:

• Provincial Offences - the newest revenue tools
• A session with the Assessment Review Board Experts
• MPAC with a General Update and updates on recent cases of interest
• AGRICORP
• Severances & Consolidations
• Collection Strategies
• Hot Topic Round Table

There will also be other interesting topics added to the agenda and will be shared once confirmed.

Companion Program

As in the past we have an exciting Companion Program!  All meals, the Banquet as well as the Companion Activity program are included in the registration cost.  This year our program is shaping up to include the following:

Once again this year we will be using the WHOVA app for the conference.

Resort Fee – A daily $15.00 (plus HST) fee will be applied to most hotel stays. As a Tier Level Benefit, our Diamond and Platinum Plus guests will not be charged the Resort Fee. The daily fee includes: In-room coffee makers, a $5.00 daily dining credit*, access to a digital newspaper app with over 300 multi-language publications, wireless internet access, unlimited local calls, two (2) bottles of spring water, as well as access to the health club and pool. *Dining credits are available for table service outlets only (Excludes Cedar Express, Tim Horton’s and In-Suite Dining) and cannot be applied to alcohol, tax or gratuity portion of the bill. Must be a Players Passport Club member to redeem, the credit is nontransferable and non-cumulative (must be used daily).

Please note the following important information relating to this function:
1. Please contact Conference Hotel directly to arrange your accommodation by calling the number provided. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend that delegates book accommodations early. The deadline for booking your accommodations is August 6, 2024 at 4 p.m.
2. Dress is business casual and business formal for the Tuesday Gala.
3. Name badges and wrist bands must be worn to all functions.
4. Registration deadline is July 19, 2024. Registrations received after this date will be subject to a $113.00 late fee ($100.00+HST).
5. Registrations may be cancelled prior to August 16, 2024 for 75% refund. Regrettably, no refunds will be issued for cancellations received after August 16, 2024, however substitutions are accepted. For registrations where the fees have not been paid in advance, and have not been cancelled prior to the August 16, 2024 deadline, invoices will be issued with the appropriate fee to the registrant.
6. By registering for and attending this event you understand your photo may be taken and used by the Association.

Standard Waiver: In the event the 2024 OMTRA Fall Conference fails to take place as scheduled or is interrupted and/or discontinued, or access to the premises is prevented or interfered with by reason of strike, lockout, injunction, Act of War, Act of God, emergency declared by a Government agency or for any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the OMTRA, the delegates and participants release the OMTRA from all damages and claims for damages. The program as stated is confirmed at the time of printing. Due to circumstances beyond the control of the OMTRA, the program may be subject to change without notice.
